Abstract
National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering, Taipei, Taiwan This paper proposes a wireless mobile system for real-Time bridge scour monitoring. Through the multichannel wireless sensing system, the superstructure vibration of a bridge during flooding was first measured. A structural health monitoring algorithm combining the concept of array expression data and Naive Bayes classification was then developed for the estimation of the corresponding scour depth. Moreover, by introducing a simple and intuitive software interface, the assessment result of the bridge scour depth can be rapidly displayed, allowing the users to easily interpret the current bridge safety status. To verify the performance of the proposed system, a series of full-bridge scour validation experiments was carried out. The result has shown that a reliable prediction of the bridge scour depth can be provided by the proposed system, which can be used for further evaluation of the overall safety condition before the critical damage or collapse of the bridge.
