Abstract
In response to the blueprint for developing Taiwan into a bilingual nation by 2030, there has been a rise in requests for website translation and translations of rules and regulations, which promoted the translation industry and increased the demand for translation project management. On the basis of the European Master’s in Translation competence framework, this study investigates the learning effects of the technology competence, personal and interpersonal competence, and service provision competence of student translators. With annual reports from the National Applied Research Laboratories as the source of translation, student translators engage in the translation project as a team to work hand in hand with different assigned roles, from project launch to closure. At the same time, the instructor plays a passive role and provides guidance when necessary. Research outcomes can be examined through forms used at different stages of the translation process, including pre-translation plan, issue form, translation quality checklist, client feedback, final report, and the final translation output. Gains and pains during the project management process can be discussed, and the effectiveness of training in technology, personal and interpersonal skills and service provision skills can be analyzed. By exploring the learning outcomes of students, the study trains students to explore problems, investigate and solve problems, and in the end, enhances the adaptability to changes to enable student translators better cope with difficulties and challenges.
