Abstract
Water is the most important resource in the global ecosystem. Owing to unique geographic environment, Taiwan experiences of dealing with the water shortage issues in order to meet the demand of domestic and industrial usages would be the most important task for the government. In Taiwan, the way of decision making for water resources management in the Central Government is from top to down. It is challenged by the new movement of Taiwan Government reconstruction and the autonomy of local government.
Due to the characteristics of the local environmental resources, the local governments have to allocate the limited water resources to meet the targets and then to satisfy the sustainable development for the future.
This research is an attempt to construct decision making model of water resources management for local county governments. In the research, the method of MCDM (in AHP) is applied to analysis the decision-making processes of the water resources in Pingtung County.
