Abstract
The political science discipline at the
NSC is in charge of the following tasks: first,
plan for the development of the discipline;
second, evaluate applications; and third,
conduct pilot projects, such as the “Elections
and Democratization Survey” project and the
“Ranking Political Science Journals ” project.
Among the three tasks, the first sets the
overall framework for the development of the
discipline. The second task allocates research
fund based on need, efficiency, and equity.
The third task channels fund to projects that
are highly cost-effective and can generate
public goods for the overall academic
community. Progress is registered on all the
three fronts.
