Abstract
Electrophoretic display is a kind of flexible thin film display which immerses the small particles in the light-absorbing liquid. With the charged particle, we can apply the external voltage to change the locations of the particles in the light-absorbing liquid to make differences in the intensity of their light reflection, so that we can see that the physical characteristics of particles have effects on the optical quality of flexible thin film display. In this thesis, we use finite-difference time-domain method to simualate the 2D structure of flexible display element, analyzing the influences of different sizes of random particles, different frequencies and different incident angle of incident light on the contrast ratio of optical intensity and discussing their qualities of imaging. Due to the significant influences of small particles for electrophoretic display, it is essential to research the optical properties to raise the contrast ratio of flexible display.
