Abstract
Growing of high quality single crystal, controlling of dopant segregation, and optimizing the growing process play an important role in industrial application of nonlinear optical crystals. Traditionally, we usually adopt the Czochralski Method to get the oxide crystals. In this method, the segregation occurs during the process of growing oxide crystals, so the concentration of the crystals are nonuniform in axial direction. If we use the Zone Melting Method, we can improve the problem significantly. Although there’re still other ways to grow oxide crystals, most of them have difficulties to control the diameters of the crystals. In this way, we decided to use the Horizontal Zone Melting Method. In this research, our goal is to get uniform-doping and stoichiometric lithium niobate single crystal.
In the researching process, we’ll build a Visual Horizontal Zone Melting system. In order to growing the crystals, we doped the same feeds which are formed by different methods and used the immerse heater in different ways to heat the melting zone. Because the melting zone is visible, it’s easier for us to accomplish the seeding and observe the shape of the interface during the growth of the crystals.
