Abstract
In the present study, a model proposed by KWU Company is tested to be appropriate for use in the prediction of erosion/corrosion rate of the wall of feedwater heaters (FWH) in nuclear power plants. Based on this model, a reliability analysis algorithm is employed to find the probability for the FWH wall to be eroded and/or corroded to a specified thickness. It is found that, among various parameters, the dissolved oxygen content and flow velocity affect the erosion/corrosion rate the most. Under consideration of their randomness, they also affect the above mentioned probability very much. The increase of probability measure with respect to time is very rapidly at certain end-of-cycles (EOC). It indicates that a plant owner should be careful in planning detailed inspection of FWHs of the plant after a certain EOC.
