Abstract
Bus Rapid Transit （BRT） combines
the quality of rail transit and the flexibility
of buses. BRT is a complete rapid transit
system consisting of many features such as
dedicated bus lane, priority for transit,
cleaner and quieter vehicles, rapid and
convenient fare collection, intelligent
transportation technologies and integration
with land use policy. The first stage of this
research has explored the domestic and
overseas practices and studies to generalize
the characteristics of BRT and analyzed
critical issues of application of ITS
technologies in BRT. It is expected in the
second stage that an expert system for
selecting the optimal combinations of ITS
technologies for BRT will be obtained.
