Abstract
A synthesis of monodisperse lanthanide-hydroxide-at-silica (Ln(OH) 3@SiO2) core/shell nanoparticles was reported. Transmittance and PL spectra were obtained to study the PBG effect on the luminescence of assembled core/shell spheres. The effects of the photonic stop band on transmission and the photoluminescence of assembled Tb(OH) 3@SiO2) nanospheres were obtained. Thin film of the core/shell self assembled into a close packed hexagonal array was prepared to investigate the reflection property. The scanning electron microscopy image revealed the top layer of close packed particles in the crystal parallel to the substrate. It was observed that a sticky and uniform core/shell structured materials with a strong luminescence probe inside are promising for the better control of emitted light.
