Abstract
The number of patients with motor
impairment due to neurological disorders of
the central nervous system has been
increased recently in Taiwan. Currently
conventional physical therapy was the only
means applied to those patients with motor
impairment in Taiwan. Functional electrical
stimulation had been used to improve motor
function for years in western country with
results. Therefore, it is a important issue to
develop a multi-channels electrical stimulator
to meet the therapeutic means in
rehabilitation.
From previous studies, we have got a
lot of experience in electromyographic signal
processing and the management of machines
interface. These novel experience could be
applied to this study. In this study, we are
going to develop a new multi-channels
functional stimulation system with the
following features: multi-channels electrical
signals output, human-machines control
signals input, stimulation mode and
waveforms selectable, frequency and
intensity programmable.
