Abstract
A new coupling scheme between singlemode fibres utilising a lensed fibre integrated with a long-period grating (LPFG) is experimentally demonstrated. The measured results show that for a lens with an appropriate radius, the use of an LPFG would lead to a higher coupling efficiency over a range of long working distances than that obtained without using the LPFG.
