Abstract
This research designs an Acoustic Enclosure to reduce the noise of an Modular Range-Extended Generator (Genset) from CEC. This research uses noise and vibration software “LMS virtual. Lab” to predict the sound pressure reduced by the acoustic enclosure, and uses Taguchi Method to analysis the influence to noise reduction by the geometry factors of the acoustic enclosure. However, the heat dissipation problem must come with the sealed design. Therefore, this research cooperates with another research to analysis the influence to both noise reduction and heat dissipation by the geometry factors of the acoustic enclosure, and provides a direction to handle them. The results indicate that the most important factors affecting enclosure performance without considering heat dissipation are the opening size of front and rear, and the number of barriers at the air inlet. When considering both noise reduction and heat dissipation, the effect of the space between barriers to noise reduction is more prominent, while the opening size causes more influence to heat dissipation. After optimizing with the result of Taguchi Method analysis, the noise of the Genset can be reduced with good heat dissipation.
