Abstract
The modulus of elasticity of concrete is a fundamental parameter in analysis and design of reinforced-concrete structures. The present ACI approach for Young’s modulus is based on normal strength concrete. It may not be appropriate for high-strength concrete. Experimental studies were conducted on the static Young’s modulus of normal-strength concrete and high-strength concrete. An empirical equation for Young’s modulus of normal-weight concrete determined by computer regression analysis, using the least square method, is described in this paper. © ASCE.
