Abstract
We have synthesized (TbY)3Al5O12:Ce,Gd (YAG:Ce,Gd) phosphors by substituting Tb3+ on Y3+ sites and investigated their luminescent properties. Moreover, a novel combination of the BaF2/H3BO3 flux is used for the preparation of (Tb,Y)3Al5O12:Ce phosphors with high emission intensities. The maximum emission enhancement is 22.7% compared with phosphors synthesized without fluxes. The results can be applied in the field of white-light emitting diodes. © 2006 Elsevier B.V.
