Abstract
This study generates a conceptual hybrid power vehicle with an energy storage flywheel. The flywheel that drives a generator to generating electric power for a motor, improves the fuel economy of the hybrid vehicle. This hybrid power vehicle consists of an internal combustion engine, a brushless synchronizing motor, a continuously variable transmission, a generator, a pulse width modulation electric controller, a planetary gear system, and an energy storage flywheel. The energy storage flywheel drives the generator and the motorthat improves the fuel consumption of the vehicle. The power and torque of the engine and the motor, the brake specific fuel consumption of the engine, the reduction speed ratios of the continuously variable transmission and the planetary gear system are derived. The controller with the fuzzy theory is used to determine the power distribution of the engine and the motor. With the specific values for the parameters of the system and using the Japanese 10-15 driving mode, the fuel consumption of the vehicle is analyzed. The fuel consumption of the vehicle with a single power of the engine by using Japanese 10-15 mode is 16.58 km/l, that is used for comparison. With the assumed initial angular velocity of the flywheel to be 0 rpm, the final reduction speed ratio to be 0.231 and the moment of inertia to be 0.6 kgm2, 1.2 kgm2, 1.8 kgm2 and 2.4 kgm2, for the hybrid system, the fuel consumptions at the 4th block of Japanese 10-15 mode are 22.65 km/l, 23.86 km/l, 23.99 km/l and 25.01 km/l. The fuel consumptions are improved 36.62%, 43.92%, 44.71% and 46.76%.
