Abstract
A half-bridge inverter with a cascading piezoelectric transformer (PT) is designed for cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs). The circuit systems are selected to achieve (1) smaller volume, (2) higher efficiency, and (3) backlight inverter power system on a chip (Power SOC) futurely.
A piezoelectric transformer is very attractive material since it has many advantages, low profile , high efficiency , no windings , and no electromagnetic noise.
A control strategy for piezoelectric transformer backlight inverter based on a constant frequency control and phase control is presented. The control always tracks piezoelectric transformer resonance frequency, independently of process variation and temperature variation.
Finally, a control chip circuit for half-bridge inverter with a cascading piezoelectric transformer is planned and designed.
