Abstract
This study investigates sub-synchronous control interactions (SSCI) in grid-forming inverters (GFMIs) with virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control, identifying SSCI caused by self-capacitive impedance and cross-coupling negative resistance. An equivalent impedance model is developed to analyze SSCI mechanisms, and a damping control strategy is proposed to mitigate oscillations. Electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations in MATLAB/Simulink validate the effectiveness of the damping controller, demonstrating successful suppression of sub-synchronous oscillations.
