Abstract
Benzaldehyde, its ortho- and meta-substituted derivatives and acetophenone underwent dimerization reactions on treatment with samarium(II) iodide in the presence of HMPA. Intramolecular phenyl-carbonyl coupling reactions were similarly carried out. © 1993.
