Abstract
This research built a prediction model to estimate the resonance frequencies and the frequency responses of the displacements for unimorph cantilever piezoelectric plates. The unimorph cantilever piezoelectric plates discussed in this study have unequal driver and driven areas. Sample data were collected from the experiments of measuring the manufactured piezoelectric plates and from the simulations of the finite element analysis. Two regression models were created from the sample data to represent the relationships between the dimensions of the piezoelectric unimorph cantilever plates and the first resonance frequencies and frequency responses of the displacements. By using the regression models, dimensions of the piezoelectric unimorph cantilever plates can be optimized, so that the first resonance frequencies of the unimorph cantilever plates can be located in the sensitive sensing range of human glabrous skins, for portable vibro-tactile device designs.
