Abstract
This thesis proposes a sequential design strategy for synthesis of large scale heat exchanger networks.The use of multiple utility at non-fixed position is considered.This strategy steps are:(1)process stream was matched roughly by using a simple linear model;(2)non-economic matches were removed form results of step1;(3)the surplus matches were decomposed into several subgroup;(4)each subgroup was designed individually by MINLP model and sum up result of subgroup.By the sequential strategy, we can design a large scale heat exchanger network.Though the sequential method can't guarantee obtaining solution, it is found that this proposed method can provide us acceptable results for large-scale HEN design problem.
Finally, two examples from literature are employed to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed strategy and discuss their advantage.
