Abstract
Bridge is one important kind of the major constructions, built to connect traffic throughout different areas, expand local road lanes and traverse valleys in mountain areas. Since 1970s, the number of steel bridges are increasing in long span bridges, replacement of old ones and even leveled bridges in urban areas, attributed to its advantages such as lighter self-weight, easier constructability, shortened duration. Nevertheless, steel bridges are most worried of corrosion, which is prevented by paint and water-proof layer, and it should be repainted once in a decade averagely. The cost is estimated to be 10% of the maintenance fee.(Lin ,2013)
Nowadays, corrosion on steel bridges is identified by human eye, but identifying through visual processing has already been proposed in previous studies. Nonetheless, photos inputted are comprised with fewer digits; if this research can upgrade computing speed and solve the efficiency problem by means of cloud computing, bridges maintenance crew and engineers are provided with a better solution.
This research develops a preliminary cloud computing platform which provides users with a variety of algorithm to choose from, in order to reduce time consumed within identifying process and output panoramic overview as a better way to do intuitional inspection.
