Abstract
To begin with the research procedure,
rainfall, flood records and the related data are
proposed to collect, analyze and store in the
appropriate data bank. Several field surveys
to the project sites are expected to
accomplish to understand the present status
of watersheds along the banks of Keelung
River. Frequency analyses of rainfall in
Keelung River Basin are scheduled to finish,
rainfall intensity-duration-frequency curves
are drawn, and the adequate rainfall pattern
can be formed. The adequacy of rainfall
network is also investigated by Kriging
approach. Furthermore, ARC/INFO analyses
of Geographical Information System are
applied for analysis the geomorphologic
characteristics of river network and
watershed topography of Keelung River
Basin. Suitable cell structures of every
tributary can thus be organized. Semi-spatial
distributed with parallel typed reservoirs
conceptual model is theoretically derived,
model parameters are reasonably optimized,
and the resulting flood hydrographs can be
simulated for different design conditions.
Moreover, the hydrological effects due to
urban development along the project areas
are analyzed as the functional relationship
between the physical parameters and the
land-use variation by applying the concept of
instantaneous unit hydrograph. Finally, by
considering different layout conditions of
flood-mitigation plans, the design discharge
for the important locations along Keelung
River can be modified for the hydrological
planning of the pilot area.
