Abstract
《Abstract》 Confidentiality is very important in social work ethics and the media is focus on public reporting. What will happen when the two meet each other? I found that there are different types of relationships between social workers and the media. One is that social workers are passively to replay the media’s report of social workers’ clients. In the other type, social workers are actively to deal with the media for marketing the institute. To social workers, the confidentiality issue is the most difficult thing to deal with when clients are reported by media. Generally, Social workers will consider the social work ethics. However I also found the case that the social worker sticks at confidentiality ethic overly and results badly. In social marketing, social workers also have problems in confidentiality, but social workers had developed some solutions, such as giving rewriting client stories to the media, shooting documentary films of clients’ story by themselves. In the media, I found that reports of cases in social work are usually reported in sensational ways because of the routes rule which is lack of social work. When reporting, journalist will not only consider their own news values and ethic but also the rating. I suggest that social worker should learn about how news works. Social work institutes should discuss how to face the media more often. And social workers should contact with the media more often in order to find the best interaction way with each other.
