Abstract
This paper is a review of Italo Calvino's novel Invisible Cities (1974). Situated in the context of urban history research, this novel illustrated that both literary and academic works involve the construction of discourses. The intimate connectness of history and literature was illuminated by the intersection of multi-discourse and multi-reality of cities, and the foundation of their coalition resides in political actions through discursive battles. Through the reading of Invisible Cities, we may find out a new vision of urban history research.
