Abstract
Abstract
Due to advent of the Internet, today, professionals of all types are looking to the Internet to promote services, offer information to customers and generally participate in the technical revolution that is all around us.
Particularly, Information technology in healthcare has gained a global dimension. Innovative information services, the World Wide Web, have further added to this gain by the provision of interactivity, ubiquitous access, and multimedia content. At best, the health information available on the Internet "empowers" the medical professionals to take over an active role in the management of their medical related information such as the prevention and treatment of disease. As for the information portal, the most promising benefits will result from equipping the information repositories and services with more intelligence. Throughout our study, we have utilized following evaluation norms to carefully analyze the two cases:
i. Internet Technology solutions
ii. Focus on business process
iii. Ease of Use
iv. Deep integration of applications
v. Multi-channel Integration
vi. e-Loyalty / Customer retention
In fact, it is concluded that all norms discussed above are imperative, under one critical condition, “rich and high quality information content”. Once the core principal of creating a portal is ascertained, we then derived the best practice by suggesting the formation of strategic alliances with medical institutions and vendors in order to implement a professional information portal successfully. At last, the thesis proposes several Internet strategies in both short and long terms, hopefully these valuable insights can ensure developers well positioned while developing such portal.
