Abstract
Base on the combination of the
Eurasia and Philippine plate forms the
Taiwan Island. Engineering projects
such as nuclear waste disposal and deep
tunnel under high mountain may involve
site condition of great depth
underground. As depth at considered site
increases, both the underground
temperature and pressure tend to elevate.
The mechanical properties of rock at
elevated temperatures and pressures can
be significantly different from those,
which are in the room temperature
condition.
To evaluate the creep properties of
rock at elevated temperatures and
pressure over a typical type of rocks is
selected as tested material in this
research. The types of mechanical
experiments include uniaxial and triaxial
creep tests.
Based on the understanding of the
mechanical behavior, endeavor will be
contributed to establish a material model,
which is able to describe the
characteristics of rock. The expected
results of this research are able to obtain
the creep behavior of rock at elevated
temperatures and pressures.
