Abstract
Abstractn recent years, the Private Equity industry has seen considerable growth, especially in the formerly rather immature European market. On a per capita basis, the European buyout activity is still approximately half the level of the U.S., whereas the venture investment stands at one-sixth of the U.S. level. The European market has grown in value from €500 million in 1984 to€24.3 billion pounds in 2001. e will use “Venture Capital and Private Equity – A Casebook” by Josh Lernernd Felda Hardymon as the backbone then extend to other related material to conduct this research about the lifecycle of private equity funds. We also explore the value creation in LBO by private equity funds including its contribution in corporate governance. Finally, we study the alternative investments made by Private Equity in recent years and the impact of subprime crisis on Private Equity. The purpose of this research is to make a basic Introduction to the contributions private equity funds bring to the corporate gonvernance and some critical elements in Private Equity life cycle.
