Abstract
This project is the third year of a threeyear
project. This year, based on the previous
year’s research results, we completed the
design and analysis for a coplanar waveguide
(CPW)-fed microstrip antenna array.
First the self-admittance of a single-element
and input impedance of a two-element array
are calculated by using IE3DTM. The mutualadmittance
is obtained by substituting the
input impedance of a single-element and that
of a two-element into the transmission-line
theory. With self- and mutual-admittances
on hand, we then apply transmission-line
theory to find the input impedance of a
multi-element patch array. Using the above
method, we designed a three-element patch
array. Experiments verified the proposed approach
and proved that the input impedance
is greatly affected by the mutual-admittance.
