Abstract
Wireless communications posses some
desirable properties such as mobility. The
demand of wireless communications
increases rapidly. The efficiency of spectrum
utilization is a main concern for
communication engineers and scientists. The
two polarized electromagnetic waves can
propagate independently in free space.
Practically the two polarized waves are not
mutually interference-free due to reflection
and rain attenuation etc.. Conventionally they
are treated for diversity applications, In this
project, we will combine the two polarized
waves as one channel and discuss how to
design the system to increase the channel
capacity.
Last year, we constructed the basic dual
polarization channel models, analyzed the
performances of several modulation schemes
with some compensation mechanism to
combat the channel effects, and finally
concluded to propose two novel ideas as the
directions of the project in the following
years.
