Abstract
The effect of Bi substitution on YBa2Cu3Oy was visualized through partial replacement of Cu with Bi which had led to the formation of YBa2BiO6. The insulating compound accounted for the deterioration of superconductivity in heavily replaced compositions. The synthesis of stoichiometric YBa2BiO6 had been investigated and compared with its formation in the presence of CuO as in YBa2Cu3-xBixOy. © 1989.
