Abstract
Let R be a noncommutative prime ring of characteristic not 2 and d a nonzero derivation of R. Chebotar and Lee proved that the additive subgroup of R generated by the subset {[xd, x] | x ∈ R} contains a noncentral Lie ideal of R if d3 ≠ 0. In this note we show that the same conclusion holds even if d3 = 0.
