Abstract
We present a Modified Ball-Pivoting Algorithm (BPA) that preserves the intuitive rolling-ball framework of BPA while eliminating its key failure points. By pairing high-precision, globally oriented normals with a strict empty-ball seed, adopting breadth-first front propagation, and adding a lightweight post-clean-up, the method delivers sharper edges, complete surfaces, and smoother shading on large outdoor point clouds without extra runtime or memory.
