Abstract
Continuing upgrades of products,
processes, machines and operation methods in
wafer fabricators bring about production
variability, which complicates production
operations, problem diagnosis and
improvement efforts. Equipment utilization
and production cycle time, two of the most
important measures of production performance,
are directly affected by production variation.
The objectives of this project are to (1) analyze
the nature and causes of production variability,
and (2) analyze the effect of production
variation on production cycle time. This
project has achieved the following results:
