Abstract
In recent year, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) has become a popular technique of wireless communication systems. Many wireless standards adopted OFDMA because of its flexibility of subcarrier allocation.
Link adaptation is a hot topic for research and it is very important to improve system performance. Adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) is the most common link adaption method for wireless communication systems.
Carrier aggregation (CA) plays an important role in 3GPP Long Term Evolution(LTE). It is an approach to combine more component carriers to transmit at the same time, and the goal of carrier aggregation is simply to increase transmission bandwidth and further to increase transmission rate.
In this thesis, we apply physical layer (PHY) abstraction to choose the best MCS for transmission and the simulation results show that the system performance is improved.
