Abstract
In this work, two low-power impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) transmitters operating at 400-MHz center frequency are designed for low-power, high-data-rate applications. The fundamentals and specifications are introduced in Chapter 2, along with the most commonly used architectures of the IR-UWB transmitter. One of the transmitters performs on-off keying (OOK) modulation and will be discussed in Chapter 3. The other one can modulate the signal with OOK, pulse position modulation (PPM), and binary phase shift keying (BPSK) will be discussed in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 shows the conclusions and future works.
The proposed OOK IR-UWB transmitter generates the pulse with finite-impulse- response-based (FIR-based) pulse generator. The narrow pulse enters the pulse generator, thus generating pulses with better spectral efficiency. The proposed design is fabricated in a 0.18-
