Abstract
This research will be focused on the
stage presentation and interpretation of
Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters. In the
perspective of several seminal productions,
from the initial production in Moscow Art
Theatre in 1901 to the most recent
postmodern deconstructions, this project
offers an examination of how the reception
of the play, in a hundred year’s time, reflects
the social, political, and aesthetic attitudes in
different countries, and how it signifies in
the development of theatre history.
