Abstract
Many well-ordered arranged structures of mesoporous silica could be synthesized using cetyltriethylammonium (CTEA) ion as the pore-directing agent in acidic environment. The crystalline structures of the mesoporous silica were found to be strongly influenced by the acids used in the synthesis, the crystallization period and the drying process. In order to clarify the effect of the acids on the crystalline structures of the mesoporous silica in-situ XRD technique was used to study the meso-structures of silica in gel form. By using mixed acids of different ratios, the strength of counter anions of the acids in influencing the meso-structure formation was determined. The results showed that the anions behaved in consistence to the Hofmeister effect of saltingin. The anion of stronger influence also led the formation of meso-structures directed by micelles of higher effective surfactant ion pair packing parameter.
