Abstract
This study applies the Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) as a tool for dongxiao timbre analysis, and compares the results with those of Short-Time Fourier Transform. Because the donxiao timbre is not very stationary (especially at the beginning of the timbre), the results of these two methods have some significant difference. After the analysis part, some efforts are tried in order to reduce the amount of data needed for the synthesis part. However, the implementation of HHT needs to be refined further and the physical meaning of the result needs more investigation.
