Abstract
The water supply system currently serves roughly 99.49% of the population in the Taipei area. The objective of this study is to investigate the amount of unaccounted-for water . Through finding the reasons causing the unaccounted-for water, several approaches for improvement were proposed.
Based on water output measures, the unaccounted-for water was tremendous. About 90% of deficiency was resulted from the leakage within water pipelines, especially of PVC pipes. Meter under-registration was also an important factor causing the unaccounted-for water.
In order to control and improve the unaccounted-for water, replace pipe infrastructure, meter measuring, implement stringent water supply system functions, maintain valves, and prosecute of illegal water connection, group a committee on water leakage improvements, are crucial.
