Abstract
This study empirically investigated the satisfaction of the exchange students from Mainland China in National Taiwan University and I-Shou University. The study developed a questionnaire by reviewing released literature and the results interviewing Mainland Chinese exchange students. The survey of the questionnaire was done in May, 2011. The survey indicated that the exchange students from Mainland China were contented in the aspects of the academic environment, living, political, media, and overall satisfaction. In addition, the results showed that the exchange students from Mainland China with lower family income, no experience of traveling abroad, and extrovert personality were more satisfied with life in Taiwan. Furthermore, the exchange students with majors in science and engineering as well as the biological and agricultural science were highly recommended other mainland students applying exchange programs of Taiwan’s universities. To sum up, according to the findings, this study at the end made several policy recommendations to the government and the authority concerned as the reference to the current policies of mainland students.
