Abstract
The sequential estimation scheme proposed by Ward cannot work well when the data signal is -1, or the transmitted PN sequence (m sequence) is inverted. In this paper, an improved sequential estimation (ISE) PN acquisition scheme based on an extended characteristic polynomial is proposed in which the PN despreader can work for both the m sequence and the inverted m sequence. The mean acquisition time of ISE is also derived. © 1988 IEEE
