Abstract
The focus of this paper is to develop a mathematical model for investigating the dynamic behavior of a thermally coupled hydrogen storage and PEM fuel cell system. The model in this work is based on control volume analysis and can easily be used to set up different operational strategies. Two specific situations were studies: in the first scenario, the fuel cell and high pressure vessel were thermally coupled; in the second scenario, the high pressure vessel and a radiator were thermally coupled. The system efficiency and dynamic behavior of these two strategies will be clearly compared. Besides, in order to establish a 5kW PEMFC stack, a two cells stack with 196cm2 reactive area was assembled and tested for further designing.
