Abstract
Hastatus faviae n. gen., n. sp., is described based on specimens obtained from colonies of the honeycomb coral, Favia favus (Forskål, 1775), collected at Wanlitong, Pingtung in southern Taiwan. The new species belongs to the family Xarifiidae of the copepod order Poecilostomatoida. It is characterized by having a spear-shaped mandible carrying a bent tip covered with denticles, biramous legs 1 and 2, uniramous legs 3 and 4, and the absence of leg 5 together with the fifth pediger. © 2010 Brill Academic Publishers.
