Abstract
A gray coding method based on a pair of orthogonal gray pattern has been presented to measure the distance of object. The displacement can be obtained through phase detection technique by using of CCD camera. In this paper, an equivalent gray level pattern with an optical mask has been proposed which is based on a concept of geometrical variety. The precision of displacement measurement can be promoted by a Window's function technique. The experiment result shows the concept is feasible.
