Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate
the impacts of global budget payment system
on the quality of dental care, especially on
the aspect of outcome. A cross-sectional
survey was conducted on 2000 randomly
selected dentists in June 2001. The response
rate is 28.75﹪. The major findings are as the
following : （1）Global Budget（GB）has the
effect of increasing quality of living for the
dentists；（2）GB may increase tension
between dentists and patients；（3）GB has
little effect on increasing the time of treating
each patient；（4）GB may encourage dentists
select their patients；（5）GB may encourage
dentists to do more oral health education；（6）
GB may have the effect of increasing oral
health status；（7）GB has little effect on
discouraging dentist to learn or introduce
new technology；（8）GB may lead to a more
reasonable relative value scale of dental care
services.
