Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate
the impacts of global budget payment system
on the quality of dental care, especially on
the aspect of outcome. A cross-sectional
survey was conducted on 2000 randomly
selected dentists in June 2001. The response
rate is 28.75﹪. The major findings are as the
following : (1)Global Budget(GB)has the
effect of increasing quality of living for the
dentists;(2)GB may increase tension
between dentists and patients;(3)GB has
little effect on increasing the time of treating
each patient;(4)GB may encourage dentists
select their patients;(5)GB may encourage
dentists to do more oral health education;(6)
GB may have the effect of increasing oral
health status;(7)GB has little effect on
discouraging dentist to learn or introduce
new technology;(8)GB may lead to a more
reasonable relative value scale of dental care
services.
