Abstract
The basic aim of the integrated project,
Kuroshio Upstream Dynamics Experiment
(KUDEX), is to understand why and how the
Kuroshio varies in its upstream area, the area
southeast of Taiwan and east of the Luzon
Strait. Modern technology and tools, such as
satellite remote sensing, drifters, ADCP
moorings and large-scale hydrographic
survey with Seasoar and other sophisticated
devices are used by the project. This project,
the KUDEX office, provides not only the
necessarily administrative services, such as
arrangement of cruises and missions, data
and information exchange, setting-up data
bank, home page and issuing news letters to
all participants, but also the technical training
and technician supports to all sea-going
experiments. The latter is critical to the
success of the whole project.
