Abstract
The major purposes of human cloning include reproduction through asexual somatic cell nuclear
transfer and biomedical research and therapy. This research project focuses on the ethical and
legal implications of reproductive human cloning in the 21st Century, setting aside the issues of
cloning for biomedical research and therapy. With ethical issues as my main interest, related
fundamental legal questions will also be addressed. Instead of a positive study of descriptive
ethics, my approach would rather be a philosophical and bioethical one. By collecting and
studying related literatures, I would firstly clarify the objective facts related to the ethical
judgment of reproductive human cloning. Secondly, I would analyze the fundamental ethical
positions underlying various arguments for and against reproductive human cloning so that I can
move forward on a more coherent and consistent basis. The following step would be a systematic
analysis of the pros and cons of ethical viewpoints on reproductive human cloning. I would
then present my personal ethical standpoint as the conclusion.
