Abstract
Diabetic patients are often suffering from the
artherosclerosis or vessel occlusion as well as
stiffening in their peripheral arteries. We use
air pump first to estimate the ability about
improving the blood circulation. The system
include pressure sensor with translation
circuit to measure the blood pressure. Then
we calculate the PWV from the popliteal
artery blood wave and dorsalis pedis artery
the toes. Before pumping leg the PWV more
than the after pumping. Therefore, under the
right time and the right pressure, the flow in
the blood vessel can be driven forward to
overcome the resistance encountered
downstream. Since the blood pressure and
the flow rate is monitored for the feedback
control system, the function of the
mechanical pump can be verified and
optimized with reasonable safety for long
term application. In this study, the optimum
control parameters for the mechanical
stimulation will be identified in the clinical
application for diabetes mellitus.
