Abstract
  Due to a higher morbidity rate and a greater need for medications, the elderly are at a higher risk for problems with medication literature on intervention strategies related to the medication problems of the elderly proved that education for the elderly makes a significant diference . The elderly who received this education had a greater knowledge of medications and they made fewer medication errors. Medication education fot he elderly in the community is and urgent need. The purpose of this study was to provide nursing intervention via innividualized or group teaching strategies for elderly people in the community, and to evaluate its effectiveness. A quasi-experimental design was chosen for this study. The subjects consisted of 223 elderly people over 65 years of age in Northern Taiwan. Written materials were given to the elderly after they had been taught. Data related to pre-and post-teaching were collected and then analyzed using SPSS computer software. The research findings revealed that both the individualized and the group teaching were effective in improving the elderly's medication knowledge and medication behavior. Individualzied teaching brough about significant improvement in knowledge of proper usage of medication, and group teaching brought about significant improvement in medication compliance. While individualized teaching can be provided in the home or clinic, it is recommended that group teaching be made available for the elderly. 病率對藥物使用需求較高,使老人面臨較多的用藥問題。相關研究文獻顯示,適當的 護理指導、用藥教育介入對老人用藥常識和用藥行為有正面影響,因此實需針對社區 老人用藥的問題設計護理指導教育,以增進老人用藥常識改善用藥行為。本研究採類 實驗設計,分別以個別及團體方式進行護理指導,提供老人一般性用藥教育,評估對 老人用藥知識及行為的影響,並比較不同方式之成效。研究對象為台灣北區65歲以上 自願參與之老人 223人,於護理指導前後進行測試,護理指導後並提供書面資料,所 得資料以電腦 SPSS軟體進行統計分析處理。研究結果顯示個別護理指導及團體護理 指導均能有效增進老人用藥常識,改善用藥行為。以個別護理指導教育老人適當用藥 常識、以團體護理指導教育老人遵從用藥常識效果較佳。建議可在家中或門診給予社 區老人個別用藥諮詢,並提供團體用藥指導。
