Abstract
The incidence of pediatric hypertension (HTN) is on the rise alongside the obesity epidemic in developed countries due to the increased incidence of essential/primary HTN in children [1]. However, secondary HTN should be considered, particularly in lean, prepubertal children with blood pressure exceeding the 95th percentile for age by more than 12 mmHg (stage 2 HTN). Renal parenchymal disease and renovascular disease are the leading causes of secondary HTN [1] in children and warrant thorough investigation.
